Helping Hearts to Wholeness

“The most common form of despair is not being who you are.” - Kierkegaard

Welcome to Aylesbury Counselling and Psychotherapy

I know it's not easy to ask for help, but you don't have to face your challenges alone. As a psychotherapist based in Aylesbury, I offer a confidential, safe space where you can express yourself freely and work through your struggles at your own pace.

Life can be overwhelming at times. Perhaps you're feeling alone, battling depression, grappling with anxiety, conflicted with addictions, mourning a loss, or struggling with relationship issues. You might be at a crossroads, questioning your purpose, seeking freedom, or yearning to know who you are and what you really want. Sometimes, you might not even know what's wrong - just that you're feeling awful, lost, unmotivated, or no longer quite yourself.

Whatever you're going through, I'm here to tailor my approach to your unique situation, creating a supportive environment for your journey towards healing. Whether you're in Aylesbury or prefer online sessions, I'm here to help.

Taking the First Step

Let's start with a 20-minute chat. We'll discuss what's brought you to seek therapy in Aylesbury or online and what you hope to achieve. Share as much or as little as you're comfortable with - there's no pressure. This is also your chance to get a feel for me and decide if we're a good fit.

Next, we'll have a 50-minute assessment session. We'll explore various aspects of your life and background to better understand the context of your concerns. After this, we'll schedule your next sessions at times that work for you. I typically suggest committing to six weekly sessions to start, but we can continue for as long as you need.

To give you an idea, 6-12 weeks is considered short-term therapy, while 6 months to a year is longer-term. Many clients prefer an open-ended approach.

My Counselling Approach

The Approach

As an integrative transpersonal psychotherapist in Aylesbury, I draw from various therapeutic modalities, grounded in a humanistic framework. This allows me to offer a personalised experience that puts your needs first.

The Process

A key part of my work is understanding your unique journey and figuring out what works best for you. You might simply need a space to be heard and understood. Or you may want to address specific issues or unfulfilled needs that are holding you back.

The Techniques

When appropriate, I can also incorporate techniques like parts work, dream analysis, inner child work, shadow work, archetypes, visualisations, creative imagination, and art therapy.

I welcome clients of all genders, sexualities, ethnicities, races, religions, backgrounds, and abilities. About Me

Hi, my name is George Kilmurry. Before becoming a psychotherapist, my path led me through various experiences - living as a monk in India, studying theology, spending time in religious communities, graduating in critical theory and religious studies, and excelling in communications, management, and leadership roles.

While these experiences were valuable, it's been the challenges or defeats that have taught me the most. They've shown me the courage and compassion needed to truly confront shame, face oneself, make peace with suffering, and begin a more authentic life. My journey has been incredible, and now I'm dedicated to helping others on their path to recovery - or perhaps more poignantly, discovery.
